We are seeking an experienced and passionate Chief Executive Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering GGSA strategic objectives as set out by the National Board.

 

About the Organisation


GIRL GUIDES South Africa (GGSA), as one of the largest female volunteer organisations in South Africa, focuses on promoting the empowerment of girls and women through concrete programmes that enable them to learn, lead and speak out about issues affecting girls in their communities. GGSA provides a platform for the holistic development of girls, by giving them equal resources and opportunities that will enable them to fulfil their potential in the society.

Role and responsibilities

 

The role of the CEO is to deliver on GGSA strategic objectives as set out by the National Board, whilst influencing and maintaining robust relationships with National Board as the conduit between the National Board, National Council and National Committees.
The direct responsibilities of the CEO will include:
• Managing and leading the National Support Centre,
• Developing and managing an Operational Strategy through National Reporting Structures,
• Setting performance standards, monitoring and reporting on performance.
• Developing a Fundraising Strategy and establishing strategic relationships with donors & strategic alliances,
• Ensuring compliance and governance as per World Association for Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) mandate.
In an environment which is subject to change due to a revised operating model and structure for GGSA, the CEO will be responsible for ensuring a robust change management and communication processes are followed for a seamless transition.

 

Competencies Required


Minimum Qualifications


A bachelor’s degree. A post graduate degree or diploma would be an added advantage.

 

Experience

 

  • Five years’ experience in a similar type of role within an NGO/NPO.
  • A demonstrated commitment to Guiding.
  • Experience in managing, supporting and leading a team.
  • Skills and experience to establish networks with National and Provincial Government, NGO’s and other organisations involved in working with young people.
  • Experience in strategic and operational planning.
  • Some understanding of Guiding will be an advantage.
  • Experience in implementing and maintaining policies and procedures.


Salary


The salary will be between R600 000 to R720 000 a year
Bonus will be considered
